The creation of MRG Marine Solutions stemmed from a blend of my passion for boating, a commitment to delivering quality work, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the boating community. The idea was sparked by recognizing an expanding need within the boating world – a need for reliable professionals who could provide top-notch repairs and services while building a relationship among boaters. We all have the same goal, to enjoy our boats out on the water.
At the core of this venture lies a dedication to delivering quality workmanship. Having spent countless hours on the water myself, I understood the frustration that arises when technical glitches or maintenance issues disrupt the seamless enjoyment of boating. It became clear that there was a gap between the level of service boat owners deserved and what was often available. This void fueled my determination to create a business where quality is paramount – a place where every vessel, regardless of size or type, is treated with the utmost care and expertise.
Helping people is another driving force behind this endeavor. Boating enthusiasts invest not only financially but also emotionally in their vessels, and encountering challenges can be disheartening. Through this company, I envisioned a platform where boat owners could find solutions, support, and advice. Whether it's diagnosing an engine issue, performing essential maintenance, or offering guidance on proper care, the goal is to assist fellow boaters in navigating their challenges with confidence and ease.
Above all, this venture is underpinned by a profound passion for boating. The open water has a unique way of connecting individuals to nature, peacefulness, and adventure. By establishing a business that revolves around boating, I aim to share this passion with others, fostering a community of likeminded enthusiasts who can come together to learn, support one another, and enjoy the fantastic experience that boating offers.
Michael is a Hampton Roads native and has had a passion for boating since a young age. He is a Virgina Tech Graduate and holds a Degree in Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture. Classroom studies focused on ship design, structure, stability, propulsion, and other facets of the shipbuilding industry. However, in addition to the design aspects, Michael has always had a desire to learn the hands-on approach, complementing the coursework. After Graduation, Michael went to work for a local Marine Engineering Company. Through the years, gaining industry knowledge and experience in a wide arrange of ships working with propulsion, structure, mechanical, and HVAC systems.
While working, naturally, it was time to purchase a boat of his own, a 1983 Silverton 34 Convertible. Through the years of repairs, problem solving, and experience, from big to small, there is a way to make it right. Boats will always need attention, whether they are brand new or decades old. With that, a need for maintenance, repairs, and upgrades will always exist. Understanding how passionate he and so many others are to boating, and knowing how frustrating a boat can be when it is not working, Michael started helping out fellow boaters around 2019. Starting small, on the weekends and after work in the evenings, getting customers back on the water is a rewarding experience. Combining a love for boating, solving problems, and helping people, running his own marine repair business was the next step.
Michael grew up on the water, going on numerous boat trips with family. Thankful for his father and his uncle who sent him down the path of ‘fishing and liking pretty much anything that floats’. In the time not at work, Michael, his family and friends, enjoy cruising throughout the Lower Chesapeake Bay. Fishing for everything from Spanish Mackerel to offshore chasing Tuna or Marlin.
